Teacher and Pedagogue

As a passionate vocal clinician, Kellan Dunlap draws technique elements from the teachings of Robin Rice, Drake Dantzler, John-Paul White, and Les Rowsey. Dunlap is recognized across the United States for his scientific technical approach to singing. He has training in voice and industry from some of the most prestigious music programs in the world including The Shepherd School of Music at Rice, Berklee School of Music, Tisch School of the Arts, University of London, and Oakland University.The National Federation of Music Clubs recently awarded Dunlap with the Myrtle Mehan/Hazel Morgan Music Education Award for his excellence in vocal instruction.

 

His students are frequent performers of musical theatre and recorded contemporary music. Dunlap's students have played roles including Jack in Newsies, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors, Arpad in She Loves Me, Ren in Footloose, Anna in Frozen, Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella in Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Carmen in Curtains, as well as Jamie in the world premier and cast recording album of Matchmaker by Ana Miller. Further success includes multiple student nominations for the Sutton Foster Awards in Music Theatre.

Dunlap's vocal students attract attention on a national scale for their vocal facility and dramatic prowess. Numerous students have been accepted into competitive collegiate musical and dramatic programs. These programs include the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), Brigham Young University, University of Michigan, Western Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, and others.
